Frequently asked
Rehearsal dinner questions.
Can I host my rehearsal dinner in The Mansard's private room?
Yes. The Mansard has three private spaces — the Round Room (up to 25), the Board Room (up to 40 with an 85-inch TV and HDMI for rehearsal-dinner slideshows), and the Deck (up to 60 in the warmer months). The Round Room and Board Room are the most popular for rehearsal dinners. Reach out for date availability and per-guest pricing. In-house rehearsal dinners are typically $55 to $85 per person for a plated three-course dinner.
What's the minimum headcount for a rehearsal dinner?
Our private-room rehearsal dinner minimum is 15 guests. For smaller intimate gatherings (8–14), we recommend the main dining room with a reserved long table rather than a private-room booking. Off-site rehearsal dinner catering also has a 15-guest minimum.
Can you cater my rehearsal dinner at a different venue?
Yes. The Mansard caters rehearsal dinners at hotels, Airbnb rental homes, private clubs, family homes, and church halls across Western New York. Full-service plated dinner starts at $35 per person; buffet service is available from $28 per person. We deliver, set up, serve, and clean up. Common rehearsal-dinner destinations include Buffalo hotels, East Aurora's Roycroft area, and Williamsville-area country clubs.
How far in advance should I book?
Rehearsal dinners in peak wedding season (May, June, September, October) book 4–6 months in advance. Off-season dates can often be booked 6–8 weeks out. Call The Mansard at (716) 828-1115 with your date and guest count — we'll tell you immediately whether we can take it. If you're also booking us for the wedding itself, we hold matched dates automatically and offer a 10% bundled discount.
Can you do dietary accommodations and a slideshow?
Yes. Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and allergen accommodations are standard on every rehearsal dinner. The Board Room has an 85-inch TV with HDMI hookup for slideshows, photo montages, or toasts. We handle the food; you handle the speech. For severe allergies, we prep those portions in a dedicated area of the kitchen.
What does a typical rehearsal dinner menu look like?
A standard three-course plated rehearsal dinner at The Mansard: an appetizer or salad course (house salad, Caesar, or exotic mushroom soup), an entrée course with guests pre-selecting from 3 or 4 options (filet, chicken almondine, pork tenderloin, salmon, or a vegetarian pasta), and a dessert course (ganache torte, cheesecake, or seasonal fruit). Bread service, coffee, and iced tea are included.
Can we bring our own wine to the rehearsal dinner?
Yes. The Mansard charges a reasonable corkage fee per bottle for BYO wine at in-house rehearsal dinners. Call ahead with what you're bringing so we have the right glassware ready. For off-site rehearsal dinners, you handle alcohol directly — we can provide service staff, glassware, and ice for an additional per-person charge.
Do you coordinate timing with the wedding ceremony rehearsal?
Yes. Most rehearsal dinners land between 6 PM and 9 PM, which pairs with a 5 PM church or venue rehearsal. Tell us where the ceremony rehearsal is and the expected dismissal time, and we align the dinner start to leave everyone time to relax between the two. For out-of-town wedding parties, we can also work earlier windows to accommodate travel.
Can the wedding party give toasts during the rehearsal dinner?
Absolutely. A quiet microphone and lectern are available for the Board Room if needed. For the Round Room, the space is intimate enough that toasts work naturally with no microphone. We pause service for extended toasts so waitstaff aren't crossing the floor during a best-man speech.
Do you offer tastings for rehearsal dinners?
Prospective tastings for couples still comparing caterers are $50 per couple for a shortened 3-entrée rehearsal-dinner tasting, applied to your final bill if you book. For couples who have already booked the wedding with us, tastings are complimentary and we build the rehearsal-dinner menu during the same session.
Can you cater both the rehearsal dinner AND the wedding?
Yes. Booking The Mansard for both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding gets you a 10% bundled discount and menu continuity across both events. Most planners we work with prefer this setup because it removes one vendor coordination layer. See our wedding catering page for wedding pricing.
What's included in the per-person rehearsal dinner price?
The per-person price covers food, service staff, setup, breakdown, table service (plates, flatware, glassware, napkins), bread service, and non-alcoholic beverages. Not included: bar service (quoted separately), rentals beyond standard table service, cake coordination if you're bringing an outside cake, and gratuity. Every proposal lists exactly what's in and what's separate.
