Frequently asked
Buffalo wedding catering questions.
How much does wedding catering cost in Buffalo?
Wedding catering in Buffalo typically runs $60 to $150 per person depending on service style and menu. The Mansard's packages in Orchard Park start at $45 per person for buffet service and go up to $115 per person for a full plated dinner — below the Buffalo market average. A 150-guest wedding with us runs $6,750 to $17,250 for food and service, before bar, rentals, and gratuity. Pricing includes delivery within 25 miles, setup, chafers, serving utensils, and up to 5 hours of service.
How far in advance should we book our wedding caterer in Buffalo?
Most Buffalo-area weddings book their caterer six to nine months out. Peak-season dates (May, June, September, October) fill twelve months in advance. Off-season weddings in January, February, and March can sometimes be booked two months out. Book The Mansard early for Saturday summer dates. If you haven't booked your rehearsal dinner yet, we can handle both the wedding and the night before at a 10% bundle discount.
Do you provide wedding tastings?
Yes. Complimentary tastings for couples with a confirmed date and a signed contract. Prospective tastings for couples still comparing caterers are $75 per couple and applied to your final bill if you book with us. Tastings are held at our Orchard Park kitchen at 3365 Abbott Rd, typically scheduled Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.
Do you travel to venues outside Orchard Park?
Yes. The Mansard covers weddings across Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming, and Orleans counties. Venues within 25 miles are included; beyond 25 miles there's a $2-per-mile travel fee. Call us with your venue and we'll work it out. We regularly cater weddings in Buffalo, Hamburg, Williamsville, East Aurora, and Cheektowaga — if your venue is in one of those cities, local delivery is included.
Can you do Buffalo-specific menu items like beef on weck and wings?
Yes — and we recommend it. A beef on weck carving station with horseradish and jus, a jumbo-wing bar with four sauces, and a pierogi station are available as add-ons or built directly into your wedding menu. Out-of-town wedding guests remember the Buffalo classics. Our pierogi are made fresh; the kummelweck rolls come from a Buffalo bakery we've used for a decade.
Do you handle dietary restrictions and food allergies at weddings?
Yes, on every wedding. Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, kosher-style, and severe-allergy accommodations are standard. Send us your guest list's dietary needs with your final headcount 14 days out, and we label individual plates or build a separate buffet line so no one has to ask. Our kitchen is not certified kosher or halal, but we offer kosher-style and halal-friendly menus when possible.
What's your deposit and cancellation policy for weddings?
A 25% non-refundable deposit books your date. 50% is due 60 days before the wedding. Final balance and confirmed headcount are due 14 days out. If you cancel more than 60 days before the wedding, we refund everything except the 25% deposit. Within 60 days, the 50% interim payment is non-refundable. We've never had to enforce this on a grieving family or a medical emergency — call us if life happens.
Do you work with Buffalo-area wedding planners?
Yes. The Mansard regularly works with independent wedding planners across Western New York. Tell us who's planning your day and we'll coordinate directly on load-in time, meal timing, bar transition, and the thousand tiny details a good planner cares about. We work off a shared timeline so nothing falls through a gap.
Do you supply linens, china, and flatware?
Rentals (linens, china, flatware, chargers, glassware) are quoted separately. We partner with local Western New York rental companies and fold the rental cost into your master quote so you don't have to contract with them separately. If you're using disposable service for a casual reception, we include premium disposables at no charge.
How many staff do you send to a 150-guest wedding?
A standard 150-guest plated wedding gets 6 to 8 service staff: 1 event captain, 4 to 6 servers, 1 bartender (additional per 75 guests if a full bar), plus kitchen staff. For buffet or stations service, we scale the team smaller. Every staffing plan is written into your contract up front — no day-of surprises.
Can you cater the rehearsal dinner AND the wedding?
Yes, and we recommend it. Booking The Mansard for both gives you menu continuity — the style and quality guests experience Friday carries into Saturday — and simplifies your coordination. See our rehearsal dinner catering page for rehearsal-specific pricing; the rehearsal dinner discount is 10% off when bundled with the wedding.
Do you offer a late-night snack service for wedding receptions?
Yes. Late-night bite stations are a popular wedding upgrade — beef on weck sliders, chicken wings, pierogi bites, or a mini pizza bar delivered to the dance floor around 10 PM. Typically $8 to $14 per person as an add-on. Refuels guests for another round of dancing and gives your out-of-town family something to talk about.
